The Cat and the Mice

One day, the mice met to discuss how to get rid of the cruel cat. Many proposals were discussed but they were all rejected as they were impractical. At last, a tiny mouse got up from her place and said, "Friends I have hit upon a very fine plan. Let us tie a bell around the cat's neck. When the cat comes, we shall hear the sound and get out of the way. All the mice shouted with joy and approved of the plan. "A nice plan: good; a very good plan; a wonderful plan, "they cried. At last, an old rat stood up and said, "No doubt, this plan is very nice. But who will bell the cat?" No one came forward to say that he would. Then the meeting was dispersed.
