The Lost Map

The Lost Map

Jake never expected a simple trip to the library to turn into the adventure of a lifetime. He was flipping through an old, musty history book when something unusual happened—a fragile piece of parchment slipped out and fluttered to the ground. Picking it up, he realized it was a hand-drawn map, filled with mysterious symbols and a bold red ‘X’ marked somewhere inside the school.

Excited, he ran to find his best friends, Mia and Alex. “Guys, look at this!” he said, holding up the parchment. Mia examined it carefully. “This looks ancient,” she said, her eyes wide. “Do you think it actually leads somewhere?”

Alex smirked. “Only one way to find out.”

With their curiosity leading the way, the trio followed the map’s directions. It took them through forgotten hallways, behind creaky lockers, and into a hidden staircase that led to the school’s basement. Dust swirled in the dim light as they finally reached a heavy, locked door—the exact one drawn on the map.

Alex jiggled the handle, but it was locked. “Great. End of the road?” he sighed.

“Not so fast,” Mia said, pulling out an old key they had found in the janitor’s closet earlier. Holding her breath, she slid it into the keyhole and turned. The door groaned open.

Inside, the room was unlike anything they had ever seen. Shelves lined the walls, filled with long-forgotten school artifacts—trophies, black-and-white photographs, and yellowed letters from over a hundred years ago. But at the very center of the room stood an old wooden chest.

Jake hesitated before lifting the lid. Inside, they found stacks of papers—documents detailing the school’s hidden history. One paper stood out: a letter from the school’s founder, explaining that he had hidden the map long ago, hoping that one day, students with a love for discovery would find it and learn about their school's origins.

Breathless with excitement, the three friends took the documents to their principal, who was astonished. The school decided to restore the hidden room as a historical exhibit, allowing all students to appreciate its past.

As Jake, Mia, and Alex walked back to class, they couldn’t stop smiling. What had started as an ordinary day had turned into something truly unforgettable.
