The Wolf and Crane
There was a big wolf who lived in the jungle. One day he caught fat prey and ate it deliciously. Unwillingly he devoured a big piece of flesh in which there was a bone. The bone stuck in his throat, which virtually stopped his system of breathing. He was then in great trouble and was crying at the top of his voice for help. His howling for aid attracted a crane. He requested the crane to get rid of it, but it could not act actively as he feared the wolf. The wolf was very ferocious looking and was a beast of prey and the crane was afraid of him. The crane was reluctant and hesitated to help. The wolf then assured him that he would grant anything. The crane wished rather than promise a reward. The crane agreed and with his long beak, he pulled out a bone from the throat of the wolf. The wolf sighed deeply in relief. The crane then claimed the reward as a promise. The wolf laughed loudly and said that Crane's head might have been bitten off and that his forbearance was a sufficient reward.
